Designed for complete beginners, this course establishes a solid foundation in the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing (Simplified characters). Students will master the Pinyin phonetic system, Mandarin tones, and basic character structures. Through real-time interactive practice, the course emphasizes functional communication in real-life situations, enabling students to accurately exchange greetings, introduce themselves, and discuss family and professions. Immersed in a culturally rich environment, students will explore Chinese traditions while building the structural framework and confidence necessary to transition seamlessly to next level of Chinese learning.
Course Objectives: In this course, students will be able to:
- Develop basic communication skills in Mandarin Chinese.
- Understand and use essential grammatical structures covered in Lesson 1 and 2 of the textbook.
- Use approximately 100 words accurately and fluently to express themselves.
- Understand and recapture the meaning of each text.
- Broaden their understanding of and appreciation for Chinese culture.
