Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools available to human beings - not only as a means of communication but also as a pathway to healing. In this course, students will explore how personal and collective narratives can foster connection, build empathy, and promote healing in communities that have experienced trauma, marginalization, or division. Designed to empower individuals to use stories for social change, this course goes beyond simply telling their own story. Participants will learn how to responsibly and ethically amplify the voices of others - especially those who are often silenced - by leveraging their own platforms and privilege to advocate for justice, equity and inclusion.

Through real-world examples and reflective prompts, students will gain the tools to:

    • Use storytelling as a means of advocacy and allyship
    • Create inclusive spaces where all voices are valued
    • Bridge divides and fosters empathy across differences
    • Contribute to individual and collective healing through narrative

Whether you're a writer, community leader, educator, or advocate, this course will equip you with the skills and mindset to tell stories that not only inspire but also transform.

Online courses require an internet connection and the ability to interact both through audio and video using either a web cam/microphone, speakers/headset using a computer or via a mobile phone connection. Depending upon the class, students will need to download either Zoom or Microsoft Teams apps to attend and participate in class sessions. There is no additional cost for these applications.
