    Experience the joy of painting in this hands-on course, offered in a welcoming and supportive environment, designed for beginners and those looking to build confidence in their artistic skills. Students will learn how to use a variety of tools and materials to create paintings with strong composition and thoughtful design. The course covers basic techniques, structure, and foundational skills needed to complete finished paintings you can be proud of.

    Participants will explore essential concepts of color theory, including color mixing, tinting, and shading, and how to brighten or dull colors to achieve desired effects. Instruction will also include an overview of different types of paints, mediums, brushes, and surfaces, with guidance on how to choose and use the appropriate tools for various painting styles and outcomes. Through instructions and demonstrations, students will gain an understanding of composition and design, building the confidence needed to enjoy creating a painting. No prior experience is required.

    Supply List:

    • Acrylic paints: recommended are artist or professional grade acrylics such as Liquatex Basic, Golden Heavy Body, Utrecht, Daniel Smith, Grumbacher, Shiva, Hyplar, and similar brands that primarily come in tubes. Students can also use brands such as Artist's Loft or Master's Touch acrylic paint, or even the small 2 oz bottles of craft paint acrylics. Pretty much anything will do if you purchase a set of primary colors (black, white, red, blue, and yellow).
    • Brushes: flat and round brushes for acrylic painting (synthetic or hog bristle) in variety of sizes - 3/4 inch wide, #6, #8, #10, round brush (size 2 or 4 for details), or your favorite brushes, including a fan brush. A starter set that includes a fan brush is recommended; students will be learning fan brush techniques along with all the others. 
    • Surfaces: canvas panels or stretched canvas: two measuring 9"X12" or 11"X14", or a canvas paper pad. Students will need approximately 20-25 sheets or boards to practice. Feel free to use whatever size or type you are comfortable with, but these sizes will be best for practicing your painting techniques.
    • Water container (old cup or can)

    Step into the world of Extended Reality (XR) with this beginner-friendly workshop. Whether you're curious about new technologies, interested in digital art, or just want to try something different, this workshop will introduce you to the basics of immersive media. Through practical experiences in Virtual Reality (VR) students will explore how XR can be used in art, and design. Using TiltBrush, a VR tool for 3D painting and sculpture, you'll create original works of art while learning key concepts such as spatial interaction and immersion.

    No prior experience is required, just bring your curiosity. Each session includes time to experiment and gain confidence working in VR. This workshop is ideal for artists, educators hobbyists, or anyone interested in exploring creative uses of technology.

    This introductory course provides a hands-on foundation in digital photography, focusing on the essential camera controls and concepts needed to create well-exposed, sharp, and intentional images. Students learn how aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, focus systems, depth of field, and lenses work together to control light, motion, and focus. Rather than learning camera-specific settings, students will develop a strong understanding of universal photographic principles that apply across all camera brands and systems.

    Emphasis will be placed on technical fundamentals, enabling students to confidently operate any digital camera and prepare for more advanced photographic techniques. This course is designed for beginners and hobbyists seeking a solid technical foundation, preparing them to confidently move into advanced composition, creative storytelling, flash, or lighting techniques.

    Looking for a fun, informative and stress-free introduction to drawing? This class introduces the fundamentals of how to sketch and draw beginning with materials and equipment and then focusing on the five fundamentals of drawing: line, shape, value, edge, and perspective. Students will use common, everyday objects from which to draw beginning with single objects and adding complexity as the student develops competency and confidence. Class is a combination of lecture, demonstration and one-on-one feedback. Work at your own pace. No drawing skills or experience is required.

    This hands-on course introduces students to the art of creating architectural study models. Participants will learn the basic techniques of model building and apply them to design and construct a scaled representation of a building of their choice. Along the way, they will explore how to work with simple materials and tools, develop three-dimensional thinking, and discover how models help visualize and communicate design ideas. By the end of the course, each student will complete a finished model and gain a deeper appreciate for the creative process behind architectural design.

    In this hands-on class, students will create a vibrant mosaic inside a carved wooden base - choose from a flower, a monstera leaf, or a classic square. You will learn how to design your layout, cut and shape glass, and assemble your mosaic using glass tiles and other materials. The class also covers proper gluing and grouting techniques, so you'll leave with a beautifully finished piece.

    During this hands-on class, students will be making two spoons. Get started with basic skills and safety practices while carving a simple and useful kitchen spoon. Continue to hone your skills as you carve a more decorative "love spoon" -something often given as a gift. Learn about wood selection, preparing blanks, basic carving techniques and traditional oil finishing. These skills will help become prepared for future wood carving projects that you can use in another class or at home.
