Advanced Cannabis Security Solutions   

This course is designed to certify graduates in New York State Cannabis Security Solutions. The certification is in compliance with NYS Marijuana Regulations & Taxation (MRTA), and Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) standards and regulations. Graduates will learn Cannabis Security Best Practices in addition to Responsible Vendor Training. You will also acquire 21st Century Soft-Skills micro-credentials, and job readiness training. The 25-Hour virtual class will be followed by a 20-Hour workforce development component, which focuses on Job Readiness Skills for employment in the industry. Students will also learn to:

  • Operate Security Cameras
  • Secure the interior and exterior of cannabis facilities
  • Defuse misunderstandings and potentially hostile confrontations
  • And more!

What does it take to become a Cannabis Security Solutions Guard?

To become a cannabis security solutions guard, one must first undergo training, and certification as a security guard. The training courses teach physical security principles for cannabis facilities. Professionals seeking to provide security services need to first gain a thorough understanding of cannabis industry regulations and other security protocols.

 

Prerequisites

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Be eligible to work in NYS
  • Must be a licensed NYS Security Guard
    1. Have 8 & 16-hour security licenses
    2. Have fingerprints taken
    3. Have completed and submitted Security Guard Application to New York Department of State
  • Minimum High School Equivalency diploma
  • Cannabis Security Solutions Certification

 

Curriculum

BMCC Cannabis Workforce & Business Development Training Program will design and deliver a 25-hour virtual course suitable for delivery through an online synchronous format for the Advanced Cannabis Security Agent Training.

Instructor

Dr. Adrienne Pascal is a retired Lieutenant from the New York City Police Department where she completed twenty years of service and earned the N.Y.P.D. Educational Citation. She also received the N.Y.P.D. Educational Scholarship while working full time with the department and was on the Dean’s List at John Jay College while earning a Master’s Degree in Security Management. She has approximately twenty years of teaching experience and has taught courses such as: Homeland Security, Intelligence, Criminal Justice and Criminology. Additionally, she is part of the Honor Society’s Pi Alpha Alpha at Walden University.   

 

Registration and Enrollment

This course is a hybrid (In-Person/Remote) course. Students will take classes online and will also attend job readiness components in person. This workforce development component will be done in person at the BMCC Center for Continuing Education & Workforce Development.
