Course description

This workshop is designed to help students gain a foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles and services for cloud computing through a guided hands-on approach. The workshop includes demonstrations from a live instructor and access to cloud security labs built from real world scenarios.

What is a Technology Workshop?

BMCC’s Technology Workshops are short term introductory courses intended for students who are interested in pursuing a career in technology. Our Cloud Security Workshop is an excellent entry point for students exploring the latest career opportunities in Cybersecurity, Cloud Security and Cloud Engineering.

 

Is there a certificate of completion?

Participants of this workshop will gain access to the course AWS Academy Cloud Security Foundations. Over the course of four in person sessions, the instructor will demo several hands-on labs and guide students through the academy course modules so that they may complete the required work on their own. All participants will have the opportunity to complete the course and obtain a digital badge from Amazon Web Services if they choose to do so.

 

Course Objectives

- Describe how to secure network access to AWS resources.

- Use the identity and access management features of AWS.

- Explain the available methods for encrypting data at rest and data in transit.

- Determine which AWS services can be used for monitoring and incident response.

- Identify security benefits and responsibilities of using Amazon Web Services.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites as this workshop is intended for anyone interested in Cybersecurity.
