This 8-week per semester certificate program would prepare students to fulfill an immediate need in the workforce and will also serve as a pathway to health careers. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course focuses on care of the older adult and incorporates all aspects of basic nursing care, with attention on the health and safety aspects of care provision, the need for good communication and to provide continuously high standards of direct patient care. The Program format involves on-campus lectures and laboratory practice, along with hi-fidelity simulation activities and off campus clinical rotations at affiliated healthcare agencies.
The target area for employment on graduation from this certificate program is a career in nursing and employment in residential care facilities which include clinics, nursing homes, extended care facilities, urgent care facilities and home healthcare.
