A Diwali Cooking Class and Celebration    NEW!

Diwali is a festival of lights and start of the New Year in the Hindu calendar. Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil, thus a cause for great celebration. Houses get cleaned top to bottom, the best linen and silver is laid out, the main entrance is decorated with colorful designs, and window sills are all alight with candles or oil lamps. No celebration is complete without special sweet and savory dishes with a lot of rolling and deep-frying. In this course, we will make and enjoy authentic dishes such as Samosa (spiced potato and pea fritters), Dal Maharani (three different lentils cooked with onion, tomatoes, ginger and garlic), Carrot and Green Pepper Rice, Curried Stew of Mixed Vegetables, and sweets such as Shreekand (yogurt with cardamom and nuts). Join us for a celebration of diwali. A $20 food fee is included in the course fee.
