Workshop on White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo

What does it mean to be white in 2019? If you are looking for a learning space to bravely and safely understand how white supremacy culture has perpetuated racial inequities and thwarted authentic dialogue, New York Times bestseller White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo provides an entry point. The facilitators are two colleagues, one an African American woman and the other a White, Jewish man from different paths committed to co-facilitating productive dialogue about equity and race. We offer this workshop to any and all who are interested. White Fragility analyzes the many strategies that whites have used to avoid, deflect, or silence these dialogues. Our first goal in these discussions will be for participants to use DiAngelo's text to gain new insights, more in-depth self-reflection and an opportunity to share perspectives. Our larger goal will be to liberate participants from the avoidance, division, and despair that consideration of these issues often causes, toward a greater sense of agency, community, and hope for the future.
