Improve your skill and confidence as you explore how to depict the urban landscape in various colorful and vibrant ways. You will learn how to map out a city scene using pencil, colored pastels, and paint. From photos, art books, demonstrations and exercises we'll learn about building geometry, basics of architecture and city planning, human vs. building scale, the volume/space dialog, inside vs. outside, function and form within our manmade environment. As the class progresses, we'll focus on perspective, light (natural vs electrical, important differences for the artist), reflections, color (theory, site application, geographical differences) and introducing plausible human silhouettes to bring everything to life. Because what makes a city, if not the living, breathing people at work or play within iits structures? Homework assignments will give you a taste of working in the field and a chance to work toward a finished piece. A supply list will be emailed upon registration.
