The Art of Comforting    NEW!

Have you ever wanted to comfort someone, but worried about saying the wrong thing? When called to comfort others, we may feel empathy and care deeply, but sometimes what to best say or do can elude us. Whether you are a caregiver, friend, family, or professional, this lecture is for anyone who may need to reach out to others who are in distress. We will explore how to put compassion into action with practical examples of comforting at work and at home. The lecturer, a counselor with over 20 years of experience, will review recent research on empathy, grief, and social support, and together, we will examine best practices for how to be helpful when times are hard.
