Casting a Hand

One way to create a sculpture is to cast it. Casting is a process of pouring a liquid material into a mold of the desired shape, and then allowing it to solidify. The results are highly detailed and smooth sculptures. In this hands-on class we'll walk you through the steps of creating an alginate mold and plaster cast. We’ll start with a simple project, casting your finger. Then we’ll try the more complicated process of molding your entire hand. You’ll take home the mold and castings, and the knowledge to try this on your own. A $20 materials fee is included in the course fee.
