Kids in the Kitchen: Culinary Adventures in Colombia

Travel to Colombia without leaving the kitchen. Together with your adventurous little chef, we'll mix and stir while learning about typical South American ingredients that are included in two tasty snacks that many Colombian children (and adults) adore. We’ll start by making pan de yuca, a shapely, thick and soft bread made with yuca flour that has a tender, cheesy interior. Next we'll try arepas or little corn cakes cooked on the stovetop and then slathered with butter and covered with cheese. To complement our treats and quench our thirst, we’ll make aguapanela or sugarcane water, and have a mini-fiesta. All the ingredients in this class are gluten sensitive friendly. Please bring a mug or liquid container to take home your aguapanela leftovers. A $15 food fee is included in the course fee. For ages 6 and up.
