New England Gardening
It may not be gardening season, but it is the perfect time to think about it. Whether you are assessing what you have, or thinking about a future plot or container garden, in this class, we'll give you a thorough overview of a master gardener's thinking when it comes to designing and maintaining a native plant focused garden that both dazzles and supports our urban ecosystem. Using organic concepts and simple terms, we will explore the fundamentals of good gardening including techniques for soil improvement, plant selection, design fundamentals, and plant care. We will show you how to choose locations, transplant flowers, set up an easy maintenance schedule, and read the signs of plant health. We'll discuss modifications you may want to address, map out a garden timeline, and teach you proven techniques to be good stewards for birds, bees, and other wildlife. When the warm weather arrives, you'll be ready to dig in.
