Classic Hat Making

A new hat for the season! Whether your style is sophisticated or flamboyant, a good hat stems from a solid foundation in millinery basics: pattern fitting, strong construction, and composition. In this class, you'll learn the basics as we use buckram and wire to make beautiful hats that are strong and flexible. Once we've practiced the technical process of building a frame with strong lines and symmetry, you will then choose and apply trims and finishes. Please bring good fabric scissors, a sketchbook, pins, measuring tape, and a ruler to class. Basic sewing skills are helpful, but not necessary. A $20 materials fee for buckram, millinery wire, pattern paper, and glue is payable to the instructor at the first class.
