Guided Wine & Spirit Tastings: Italian Grapes You Should Be Drinking

Sorriso Vino Brookline is partnering with Brookline Adult & Community Education to offer guided wine and spirit tastings. Alcohol is included in the tuition and may be picked up prior to the start of the class at Sorriso Vino Brookline at 27 Harvard Street. The instructor is Sommelier Nicholas Lisotto. Having built food and beverage programs around the country, chef & sommelier Nick Lisotto will take you through a guided tasting of procured spirits and wines from his private collection. Each session will have a specific theme and the classes are meant to be fun, casual, interactive experiences. Learn about often overlooked grapes and regions of Italy that produce incredible, amazing and often overlooked wines. We are going to taste one white and two red wines that are absolutely epic and don't nearly get enough attention. As a fellow sommelier told Nick, "if you don't like Barbera, you just don't like wine!" Soave is an ethereal white wine that echoes the style of Amarone from the Veneto into this stunning white wine which showcases both fruit and body while pairing effortlessly with food. Barbera, the once overlooked grape of Piedmont, is now being given its prominence as a premiere, cru varietal and being showcased as an age worthy competitor to Barolo. Aglianico, structured wines from Camppania, are some of the biggest wines in Italy. Bold, smoky, fruity, and juicy, these wines are huge and deliver a punch from a region solely devoted to them. Students must be over the age of 21 to participate in this class.
