The Milestones to Revolution: It Started In Boston!
On Patriots Day this year, we will mark the 248th anniversary of what Emerson would later call "the shot heard around the world," the first shots fired in the American Revolution. More important than this particular anniversary is its place in the unbroken chain of events that stretched out over 20 years and ended when Great Britain recognized the newly independent United States of America.
This course includes two classroom sessions that will describe the links in that chain, from the arrival of British soldiers sent to Boston to put a stop to the violent Stamp Act protests to the evacuation of British soldiers under threat of cannon fire targeting their ships in Boston Harbor.
In addition to the classroom sessions, this course will conclude with a walking tour in Downtown Boston that will visit many of the most important sites where the Revolution began. The tour will include admission to the Old State House and the Old South Meeting House.
Class dates: Tuesday, April 11th & Thursday, April 13 from 6-7pm and Saturday, April 15th from 10-11am.
