Reading & Writing Poetry: Questions of Travel

Taking Elizabeth Bishop’s poem “Questions of Travel” as a starting point, we will read and write poems about travel and about home—travel to new places, near and far; imaginary travels; returning home; and staying home, as many of us have done these past three years during the pandemic. We will read poems about traveling and not-traveling by Elizabeth Bishop, Tracy K. Smith, Denise Levertov, Eavan Boland, Jon Davis, Philip Metres, and others. The instructor will offer prompts as we create and share new poems during the course. No class the week of April 15 during school vacation.
Taught by Jennifer Barber, Poet Laureate of Brookline.
