Music Lessons

Music Extension offers after school lessons, to help your children further their ability and knowledge of their chosen instrument: violin, viola, cello, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. These lessons are for students in grades 5-8 at the Public Schools of Brookline.

A registration survey was emailed to students and their families by Kenny Kozol. You must complete this survey if you intend to enroll your child in music lessons. Upon completing the survey, a staff member will then reach out to you with a lesson day and time to confirm. Once you confirm, you then will receive a link to register your child and pay the tuition for the lessons.

Some Important Policies:
1. Payment: Full payment is due at the time of registration. Discounts or waivers do not apply to this program. If you need to set up a payment plan, please email bacep@psbma.org
2. Registration Fee: Each participant will be charged a $10 registration fee.
3. Financial Assistance: Is available to those who qualify. Please email bacep@psbma.org for more information.
4. Withdrawals/ Refunds: If you withdraw your child before October 18, 2021, a $25 processing fee will apply. The $10 registration fee is non-refundable. No refunds will be granted after October 18, 2021.
5. Schedule Changes: These lessons are schedule for the entire school year. Once lessons begin, we cannot accommodate schedule changes.
6. Absences: If your child misses a lesson, this lesson will not be made up.
7. Canceled Lessons: In the case that the teacher needs to cancel or there’s a snow day, then this lesson will be made up at the end of the school year.
8. Holidays: Music Extension lessons follow the Public Schools of Brookline calendar. If the schools are closed, then lessons will not meet.
9. Early Release Days: Lessons will still meet on early release days, except on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, when there will be no lessons.
10. Instrument Rental: Information about renting instruments will be provided after registration from the Performing Arts Department.
11. Confirmation: If you don’t receive a confirmation by October 18, 2021, please call BA&CE at 617-730-2700, ext 0 (or email bacep@psbma.org).

PLEASE NOTE: If your child has taken any programs with us in the past (including Music Extension, SmartSummers, or one of our SmartVacation programs), then you do not need to create another account. You will only need to login to your account and pay for the lessons. If you forgot your password, the system can send you a temporary password.
