NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar   

This Seminar provides concrete Alzheimer’s and Dementia training to increase customer service and satisfaction within Senior Living Communities, Hospital Systems, First Responders, Acute Rehab Centers, Home Health Organizations, and Hospice Organizations.

To ensure a successful CDP seminar: In order to receive the Certificate of Completion and be eligible to apply for your Certified Dementia Practitioner certification, you must be present for the entire time during the seminar. The course will be 8 am - 4:30 pm with a lunch break.

Your Student Handout Notebook will be provided within your registration fee in digital access key format prior to the start of the seminar.

Take the path to certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). This is the required seminar for those pursuing the CDP/Certified Dementia Practitioner Certification through the NCCDP or for those who desire to enhance their education in Alzheimer’s and Dementia. 

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive, and sundowning behaviors in adults

  • Evaluate behavioral/care interventions that may be used to prevent or reduce difficult care situations.
  • Evaluate challenges related to caregiver stress and be able to utilize stress reduction techniques
  • Evaluate alternative activity interventions that are success-oriented and failure-free
  • Receive a certificate of attendance and apply to earn 7 CEUs and NCCDP certification as a CDP Certified Dementia Practitioner®

  • Introduction to Dementia: Diagnosis, Prognosis, & Treatment

  • Communication and Feelings
  • Depression and Repetitive Exercises
  • Delusions, Hallucinations, Hoarding, & Wandering
  • Aggressive Behaviors, Catastrophic Reactions, Intimacy, and Sexuality
  • Personal Care: Pain, Nutrition, Bathing, Dressing, Toileting, Falls, & Sleep Disturbance
  • Activities and Enrichment 
  • Environment
  • Staff & Family Support, Abuse & Neglect Prevention
  • Diversity & Cultural Competence
  • Spiritual Care & End-of-Life Issues

Costs and Information:

  • This session will be offered at a promotional rate of $180. This session usually costs a $250 fee. 

  • The optional CDP Certification is a two-year certification that is nationally recognized through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners
  • You will receive an email confirmation of your registration with directions to the location of the seminar.
  • The NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminars have been approved by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners® and meet the criteria for those who qualify and are pursuing certification as a CDP Certified Dementia Practitioner® as well as Certified First Responder - Dementia Trained®
  • While certification promotes and maintains quality in the realm of Alzheimer's and Dementia care, it does not license nor confer a right or privilege upon, or otherwise define the qualifications of, anyone in the healthcare field.
  • Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right to cancel this seminar in the event of: insufficient enrollment (does not apply for corporate contracts), instructor sickness, a state of emergency, and any other unforeseen event outside of our control. We ask registrants who need to cancel to please provide CCU with notice in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the seminar. Cancellations are refundable less a $75 administrative charge. Substitutions to reschedule for another class date/time may be made at any time.
  • So that CCU can ensure that we meet all accessibility needs and assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, we ask anyone with special needs to please notify us at least seven (7) days prior to the start of the seminar.
