Tom Kennington has thrilled us over the years with his music courses, from “Radio & Rock ‘n Roll” to “Musical Ramblings.” But now, in the first two weeks of this course, Tom is featuring “The Music of YOUR Lives”, favorite songs submitted by class participants along with the memories those songs bring back. In Week Three, Tom will share some of the songs and fascinating stories of the many stars he has had the opportunity to work with.

It may be surprising to find out how many “pop music stars” only had one hit record… only one claim to fame. We will explore MORE of these gems from the mid ’50s to the late ’70s in this class. Come and relive some of those wonderful days of your youth… and… probably hear some songs that you haven’t heard in years. This course was last offered in our Fall 2020 term.
Session #3
Dates: 11/2/2023 - 11/16/2023
“Mr. Tambourine Man”: Is Dylan’s or the Byrds’ version better? “Lucy in the Sky”: The Beatles or Elton John? “The Acid Queen:” The Who or Tina Turner? “I Shot the Sheriff”: Bob Marley’s original or Clapton’s cover? We will listen, compare, vote, discuss and analyze. We will talk about WHY one version might be ‘better’- rhythm, instruments, style and more. No knowledge of music theory or instruments is needed. This course is for all who love good rock music.
