Florida, the Forgotten Years

Following his morning class on Florida during and after the Revolutionary War, author D. L. Havlin will continue his historical presentation with "Florida, the Forgotten Years" wherein he will discuss the years between the Civil War and WWI. The years from 1865 to 1914 were tumultuous ones for Florida when millions of acres of land were sold to pay Florida's Civil War debts. Battles between cattle barons replaced battle with Indians. Land speculators destroyed Florida's reputation with crooked land deals, while charlatans and showmen flocked to its sandy beaches. Don't forget the forgotten years. This presentation covers forgotten events that still affect us today.
