      Meet the Washington State DSHS Adult Family Home Administrator education requirement for Adult Family Home business owners (provider) to become licensed as an Adult Family Home (AFH) provider or to be employed as a resident manager. Learn the concepts and principles of adult home management. Examine the roles and responsibilities of a licensed provider, the licensing process, business operations of the home, staff management, resident care issues, and resident rights. Students will be assessed on their proficiency prior to the start of class in English, reading, writing, and math. You must have a 6th grade level (ABE 3) in English and a 4th grade Level (ABE 2) in math. Basic computer skills are also required including accessing the internet, MS Word and MS Excel.

This DSHS-approved certification curriculum will enable students to explore the different types of dementias. You will learn communication techniques, behavioral interventions, deal with hallucinations, delusions, medications, and understand approaches in care as you assist folks with their activities of daily living (ADLs). This training applies to providers, resident managers, and caregivers.

    This seven-week intensive course will prepare students to take the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination - "the FS Exam". Concepts and topics covered over the seven weeks will include: the Public Land Survey System (i.e. section, township, and quadrangle layout, single and double proportioning, closing corners, meander lines), easements, title, deeds, descriptions, evidence, simultaneous conveyances, records research, rules of construction, riparian rights, order of operations, quadratic equations, triangles, degree to decimal degree conversions, bearing to azimuth conversions, magnetic declination, horizontal and vertical curves, area calculations, intersection of lines/slope, photogrammetry, statistics and probability, field measurements and corrections, differential level loops, geodesy, state plane coordinates, grid/ground calculations, least squares and traverse adjustments.

    The Project Management Certificate is designed for working professionals who are either starting out or moving up as project managers. Courses are taught with a practical approach that equips participants with the skills and knowledge that can be applied immediately to the workplace. The Project Management Certificate consists of seven required courses totaling 108 hours of course work. Most people are able to complete the Certificate in two quarters. You may register for the courses individually, or you can save money by registering for a series of courses. This program is a partnership with Green River Community College. This program is offered in partnership with Green River Community College.
