Many faculty prefer to use live synchronous sessions to be able to connect with their entire classes at one time. Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online, with or without video. Zoom users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another's screens, all with one easy-to-use platform. CCU's Zoom Pro accounts are now available for students, faculty and staff through a university site license. This class will introduce users to the basics of accessing, setting up, and using Zoom to create synchronous online meetings.
Within 24-hours after you register, you will receive an email with information on how to access the class.
Microsoft Teams is an all-in-one application that combines many of the most widely-used Office365 applications into a single interface. In this session, we will begin to investigate the basics of many of the available features that Teams has to offer such as project management, chat and web conferencing, file storage, and real-time collaboration. We will also discuss some practical ways that Teams can be integrated into your courses and everyday workflows. We will cover managing checklists and progress reporting; assigning and coding tasks for workgroups within a team; editing documents in real-time with other colleagues in the Teams interface; storing and sharing files from within a team; and launching audio and video calls in Teams.
Zoom has become an integral component of how we deliver streaming digital content for our classes. In this session, we will discuss and brainstorm some use cases for how you can use Zoom to make your content more engaging and go beyond streaming to generate content for asynchronous use. This session will cover using advanced features of Zoom to generate high-quality learning objects, embedding recorded Zoom content in Moodle, and creating a more immersive learning experience. (It is recommended you complete the "Zoom - The Basics" session prior to attending this session.)
