Elementary Chinese I (matching HSK Chinese Proficiency Level I)

Elementary Chinese I (matching HSK Chinese Proficiency Level I) is a 10-week introductory Mandarin Chinese course designed for CSU faculty/staff/family, CSU students, and community members who are interested in Chinese language but don’t have any experience with it. During the semester students will learn Pinyin (the Chinese phonetic tool), how to pronounce characters with Pinyin, and how to use 100 -150 characters/words to communicate at the sentence level. Chinese cultural insights will also be introduced such as family structure and name giving. Students who complete this course are encouraged to take the HSK Level I test. This course has two class sections to choose between: Section I is a 1-hour lunch time class which meets twice per week; Section II is a 2-hour evening class which meets once per week. A discount code is available for (1) those taking multiple CI courses at the same time, (2) community members 60 years old or above. Email Dr. Li at h.li84@csuohio.edu.
