2.1 Intermediate Chinese I

Intermediate Chinese I is a 12-week higher level Mandarin Chinese class that teaches students how to use Chinese language to serve the demands of their personal lives, including their studies, work, and travels. Learners from CSU and the communities are expected to have elementary Chinese language background, as well as a strong intention to improve their Chinese language skills and expand their knowledge. The majority of the course will be taught in Chinese so that students will be immersed in the target language. After the completion of this course, students should be able to use around 400-600 Chinese words in daily conversation as well as paragraph level writing. Cultural insights at this level cover sports, wedding dresses, birthday celebrations, etc. Students will be able to give presentations on selected topics in Chinese. A discount code is available for those taking multiple CI courses at the same time. CSU benefit covers the tuition for qualified faculty/staff. Email Dr. Li at
