Empirical Chinese Teaching/Educational Research Seminar  

Chinese Language Teaching/Educational Research Design is a course designed for current and future teachers and educators who are interested in conducting empirical research on Chinese language teaching, second language teaching, or education in general. This class covers topics such as research question development, literature review, research method selection, instrument development, sampling, data collection, and data analysis. Paper writing and APA format may be discussed. Through the 10-week course of learning, the goal is to equip every student with skills and knowledge to construct a clear ready-to-go design for their self-selected research project. This class is highly student-centered, and the focus is on what students can achieve after the completion of the class. This class may be offered in face-to-face and/or online format. A Confucius Institute certificate will be given to those who successfully complete the course. A discount code is available for (1) those taking multiple CI courses at the same time, (2) community members 60 years old or over. Email Dr. Li at
