On some level, we all have a fascination with monsters. Literature through the ages has provided us with many terrifying examples that can keep us awake at night. Join us for a lecture that explores some of the most “monstrous” of them all—from the Cyclops to Hannibal Lecter to the robots of the 21st century. We will explore what a monster IS; why we are both repelled and attracted by monstrous creatures; and why we create such characters in the first place.

Drawing on the true events behind her novel Beneath the Sicilian Stars, author Lindsay Marie Morris uncovers this forgotten chapter of San Francisco Bay Area history through archival photos and personal storytelling.
