Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease: A Global Challenge or Opportunity?    NEW!

Aging adults across the world are concerned with their memory due to an increased awareness of the risk and prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The difference between age related changes in memory, cognitive impairment and dementia is the degree of memory impairment and its impact on daily life.

Globally, there is an overall lack of awareness in understanding dementia that results in stigma for the individual with memory loss as well as their families, which in turn, creates additional barriers to diagnosis and care. Ultimately, individuals, families, and societies are impacted physically, psychologically, and economically by dementia.

Join this seminar to examine Alzheimer’s disease and dementia from an international lens including differences in lifestyle risk factors. Leave this seminar with a fundamental understanding of factors that influence health care and behavioral health treatment for individuals with dementia and relate to dementia as a public health care priority.
