Bohemian Greenwich Village

In the early twentieth century, New York City's original home of poets and peasants was Greenwich Village. This refuge for artists and free thinkers provided cheap quarters which allowed bohemians to escape the dreary, industrial world and live a penniless, enlightened lifestyle. However, a new subway extension commercialized the borough and rent prices rose rapidly. The bohemians fled, and the Village turned into a ghost of its once thriving and authentic community. Come learn about this distinct time in New York City's history. THIS COURSE WILL MEET ONLINE VIA ZOOM.
