Artists with Arthritis: Then & Now

This course will explore the determination of many artists with autoimmune diseases. We will look at artists who lived in early times with less understanding and less effective therapies for their ailments, then contrast them with artists in the current times who have benefitted from more effective therapies. Learn about artists such as Renoir, Dufy, and Outterbridge, who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis; Paul Klee who dealt with scleroderma; Toulouse-Lautrec's pycnodysostosis; and Ruth Asawa's systemic lupus erythematosus. Viewing the changes in their lives and their artistic expressions will be instructive and inspirational. THIS COURSE WILL MEET ONLINE VIA ZOOM.
