Don’t Get Caught! Best Practices for Billing and Documentation (ETHICS)    NEW!

Medicare and third party payment regulations change rapidly, catching some by surprise while prepayment audits for mental health services and reviews for documenting medical necessity are on the rise. Although it is true insurance fraud is not common, many providers fail private insurance and Medicare probes because they unwittingly commit “waste and abuse” due to lack of knowledge about the latest requirements for proper documentation and coding. In January 2019 coding and billing procedures for psychological testing will change.

This practical seminar will cover up-to-date ethical and best practices for coding and documenting mental health services for both Medicare and other third party payers.

What will you learn?

  1. How fraud, waste, and abuse in behavioral health services are determined
  2. The ethical underpinnings of medical necessity in psychotherapy practice
  3. Proper documentation that demonstrates ethical practices in psychotherapy
  4. Proper coding and billing for psychological testing

This program is designed for behavioral health practitioners or administrators working in private practice, primary care, out-patient clinics or long term care settings who bill Medicare or other third party payers.
