Families: How They Work and How to Work with Them

Families present formidable complexity—generations of history, a labyrinth of relationships, and ongoing individual and family developmental processes. We will make sense of complexity through a family systems perspective, rich case histories, and the opportunity to discuss participants’ case examples. We will then apply these ideas within a collaborative framework for intervention, exploring dialogue, narrative, and the judicious use of our own personalities in helping families transform themselves.

This program is designed for therapists and counselors who would like to refine their work with families, would like to expand their repertoire to include family work or who work with individuals and would like to better understand family dynamics. May also be of interest to other health care professionals who want to better understand families.
