Teen Depression and The Ultimate: Suicide  

Adolescence is an unsettling time for our young people; being able to discern what is normal and abnormal adolescent development is important. You’ll learn about the causes of mood disorders, including depression and their manifestations, and biological and familial factors. Identification of the signs and symptoms of distress and then the various episodes of depression, hypomania, bipolar, and dysthymia disorders will heighten your clinical knowledge. As risks increase, teen suicide has become a serious problem. Adolescent suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth in the U.S. Learn the basic facts, the risk factors, situational triggering and the stages of suicide. We’ll discuss assessment and the various treatment approaches for adolescents struggling with depression and suicide ideations.
