Summer Institute 2019
Join us at Central Washington University, on our beautiful Ellensburg campus, for the C3WP Summer Institute. Designed to serve all 4th-10th grade teachers looking for dynamic and effective strategies in research-proven scaffolded teaching and formative assessment resources that support the development of students' argumentative writing.
Who should participate?
All 4th-10th grade teachers looking for dynamic and effective strategies for teaching opinion and argumentative writing.
Content area teachers who want to learn more about using writing to increase learning in all subjects.
Teachers who want to network with colleagues across the state and nation.
Teachers who want to build professional learning communities in their buildings and districts
Successful participants will be able to:
Implement C3WP scaffolded writing instruction to meet the academic needs of ALL students, including English Learners, struggling readers and writers, and proficient writers.
Implement the research-validated C3WP in their classrooms to improve student achievement in source-based argument and opinion writing.
Integrate C3WP resources and formative assessments in upper elementary and secondary curricula.
Utilize C3WP mini-units and instructional approaches to improve students’ critical reading skills.
Utilize formative assessments to analyze students’ argument and opinion writing to plan next instructional steps focused on teaching
specific argument skills
The institute is proud to offer 4 days of interactive training developed by Dr. Bobby Cummings and expert facilitators from around the state. This training is eligible for clock hours, which are included in the fee. Lunches will be provided each day, and are also included.
