This course adopts a flipped-classroom approach to teaching and learning Tai Chi remotely on Zoom. The teacher prepares video clips for students to view and assigns guided homework for students to analyze and visualize movements of designated forms out of class. The bulk of the class time will be devoted to confirming students’ analyses and providing further explanations of breakdowns. The instructor will demonstrate fragmented and integrated movements for students to follow. The major purpose is to enable students to correctly practice covered forms on their own outside class. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Students will need a device such as a laptop or iPad and access to the internet in order to participate in this course. Connecting the device to a TV can improve your view. Wearing a right-hand glove of color is helpful for enhanced awareness of direction. Another great idea is showing a sharp contrast between the colors of your shoes, pants, and the floor so that frequent movements of your feet can be quickly visualized. The Dinning and/or sitting rooms are usually places good enough for movements in this class.
There will be three classes, all on Thursday evenings running from Sept. 24 through Nov. 5.
The 24-form class (for beginners): 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
The 42-form class (for those who have learned the 24 forms): 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
The 48-form class (for students who have learned the 42 forms): 8:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Each class will be limited to five members in size.
