CWU Continuing Education Course Offerings

Tai Chi Swordsmanship for Health

Unlike a sword fighting course that has the sole purpose to cut down your enemies, this virtual course of live and synchronous instructions on Zoom focuses on swordsmanship for the sake of health building through teaching two historically famous styles of Tai Chi swordsmanship—Chen (northern style) and Wudang (southern style). The course aims at integrating Tai Chi principles with graceful sword movements and postures, fostering skillful sword handling that projects intention and strength to different parts of the sword, enhancing focused awareness and perception-production coordination, and improving body-mind-universe oneness. Adults of all ages are welcome.

A learning sword is required to take the course. Tai Chi retractable swords are available at affordable prices on Amazon. The Continuing Education Office also has a few that could be checked out if need be.

Please direct all questions regarding this course to Georgie Ainsley, Program Manager at: Georgie.Ainsley@cwu.edu.
