- The Beginner’s Lucky Draw: Learning Poker One Hand at a Time
-
If 'full house' makes you think of holiday guests instead of playing cards, this six-week class is your perfect introduction to poker. We'll cover the rules, hand rankings, betting, bluffing, table etiquette, and beginner strategies for popular games like Texas Hold'em. Along the way, we'll shuffle in stories, laughs, and a few lessons from The Gambler — because you've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and when not to go 'all in.' No poker face required! This class is designed for beginners who want to learn the game, meet new people, and gain enough confidence to sit at the table without asking, 'Wait... which one is the flush again?' No gambling involved — just friendly competition, good humor, and plenty of chips (the poker kind, not the salty kind).

We don't need no stinkin' sidewalks! What better way to spend your Friday mornings than on a morning walk with your OLLI buddies in Colorado’s fall weather?! You’ll explore places like land trust properties, state parks, and maybe a private ranch.
Hikes are curated for OLLI’s population by local, nature-focused non-profits, rated easy to moderate, with some elevation changes and occasional stepping around roots and rocks. Our hikes are led by trained guides who provide a fun and educational experience. Learn about plants, wildlife, geology, history, and our environment – all this while getting in your steps! You’ll travel to places that may be familiar to you and likely some new ones. We’ll arrange meetup spots for those who want to carpool or caravan.
Wait, there’s more! A class favorite is the optional lunch after each walk, where we continue the fun and camaraderie.
This class has a $50 fee, in addition to OLLI's fees, which will be collected at registration. One hundred percent of the class fees will be donated to the non-profit organizations that provide trained guides who curate and lead our hikes and tours during this term.
