Free Summer Tai Chi & Qigong Classes Offered in Observatory Park

Living Younger Longer Institute and DU Partners Host Weekly Community Wellness Program

In response to growing interest in mindful movement and accessible wellness, the Living Younger Longer Institute is launching a new season of free Tai Chi and Qigong classes every Monday morning at Observatory Park, running from June 2 through August 25, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

Led by nationally recognized instructors Joseph Brady and Jacqui Shumway of The Tai Chi Project, these classes are designed for all levels—from beginners to experienced practitioners. Participants will learn flowing Tai Chi and Qigong techniques that promote stress reduction, improved balance, and overall well-being.

“In these uncertain and often stressful times, Tai Chi offers a powerful way to calm the mind, move the body, and restore inner peace,” said Jacqui Shumway, co-founder of The Tai Chi Project. “Observatory Park is an ideal setting to experience these benefits as a community.”

This program is made possible through a unique collaboration between University and community wellness leaders, including:

  • The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI at DU)
  • The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging
  • The DU Wellness Program
  • The DU Enrichment Program
  • The DU Retirees Association
  • The Tai Chi Project at Living Younger Longer Institute
  • Walk with a Doc

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities for healthy aging, lifelong learning, and accessible preventive health practices.

Registration is free and open to the public.  Register on EventBrite
