The Opioid Crisis  

We will discuss the opioid crisis in the United States and specifically in Snohomish County, including the numbers of people affected, the trends in these numbers, and the methods used to follow and assess this epidemic, as well as the impact on the affected people and the community. The science and research on opioid addiction will be presented and treatment possibilities and availability in Snohomish County reviewed. Dr. Mark Beatty is the Health Officer of Snohomish County specializing in pediatrics and preventive medicine. He was trained as an epidemiologist at The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has a masters degree in public health. He has conducted public health research in many places around the world.
