Great Rivers, Great Music

Some of the world's great rivers have inspired some of our most beloved pieces of music. Many of us are familiar with Handel's Water Music, written for a cruise up the Thames by King George I. But did you know that the famous Skaters' Waltz was inspired by a famous river? Dr. Parker will explore not only the music, but also interesting back stories about the music, the rivers and the composers. Get ready for a smooth cruise on the Rhine, the Moldau, the Danube, the Mississippi and other great rivers through fantastic music by great composers. Craig Parker taught music in Washington public schools, then taught at a private Presbyterian college in north Georgia. He has a BA in music education, an MA in music history, and a doctorate in music education. He loves sharing music about which he is passionate.
