|ONLINE Trouble on Board Spaceship Earth
Please Note: This class has been moved online. In 1966 Kenneth Boulding wrote "The Economics of the Coming Spaceship Earth," where he warned that humans were treating the earth as if we were cowboys on the frontier, using up resources and moving on, whereas we should be treating it as if we were crew members on a spaceship whose life-support systems need continuous maintenance and repair. His paper launched the field of environmental economics. The climate crisis has borne out his vision. This class will explore the fields of climate economics, climate policy, and climate politics to consider the best way to address the crisis.
