Bring your story to life! Debra Rich Gettleman, award-winning journalist and playwright, will guide you to tell your story in this fun, fast-paced introduction to playwrighting. The class will focus on the 10-minute one-act play, an increasingly popular theatre genre. You'll learn to discover the kernels of truth in everyday reality that ignite compelling drama and comedy while also receiving specific instruction regarding structure and formatting to create your own 10-minute play. With a focus on finding your story, character development, and plot progression, this 6-week class will culminate with staged readings of every student's completed plays performed at The Black Box Theatre on campus. Each student will be assigned a professional director and cast for a Saturday night performance on Nov 18th at 8 pm.
