jQuery is a JavaScript library that speeds up web development by simplifying a lot of programming tasks such as accessing and manipulating HTML elements, passing and retrieving data to/from server, creating rich visual effects and animations. Besides learning core jQuery functions the class will cover jQuery UI and several plugins that will allow making a web site stand out with a few lines of code. After the class students will be able to simplify common JavaScript tasks, access parts of a page, modify the appearance of a page, alter the content of a page, respond to a user’s interaction with a page, add animation to a page, retrieve information from a server without refreshing the page and more. Students will have plenty of exercises in class, will work on a large project and will have about 7 hours of homework.
