Beginner's Mat Pilates Level I [ON CAMPUS]    NEW!

This course is designed for people who have no or little experience with Mat Pilates.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that has been shown to increase flexibility, tone muscles, improve posture and improve joint health.  There is a primary focus on core strengthening.

What is the difference between Pilates and Yoga?
Both Pilates and yoga are low-impact exercises, but there is one important difference. In Pilates, you adopt a position and then challenge your core by moving your arms or legs.  When practicing yoga, you typically adopt a position and hold it, or flow into a different position.

Who can benefit from Pilates?
The short answer is Everyone!!  Because Pilates can be modified to provide either a gentle strength training program or a challenging workout, most people would have no problem with this form of exercise. It is suitable both for beginners and for people who already exercise regularly.

“After 10 pilates sessions, you feel better, 20 sessions you look better, 30 sessions you have a completely new body.” Joseph Pilates
