Mapping Your Career in Behavioral Health:

Explore the exciting world of behavioral health and discover a range of career paths right here in Colorado—from entry-level roles to advanced practice. Whether you're just curious or ready to dive in, this course helps you see how your interests and skills could fit in the field. Plus, you can boost your resume with an optional Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, including a hands-on skills test.

Behavioral Health Plus:

Designed for public-facing professionals, this 10-week online course provides foundational knowledge in behavioral health and entry-level crisis management. It’s a practical way to upskill and explore entry-level roles in this growing field.

Therapeutic Communication & Case Management:

Designed to complete the Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant microcredential when paired with the Behavioral Health Plus non-credit course, this 7-week class builds applicable skills in therapeutic communication, case management, ethics, and more.

Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA): This support professional, non-clinical role works under supervision to carry out activities such as wellness promotion and education, community needs assessment, screening, referrals, crisis management, case management, orientation to services & care navigation, and individual and group interventions.     This course is designed to complete the Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant microcredential when paired with the non-credit Behavioral Health Plus course. Topics covered will offer introductory knowledge and practical skills to use in behavioral health settings, including:

    • Therapeutic Communication Skills
    • Case Management and Documentation
    • Trauma-Informed Care and Cultural Competency

    Much of the coursework is independent and at the convenience of your schedule. There will be a weekly Zoom session with an instructor to practice the skills in small group settings. Attending via Zoom gives you the flexibility to attend from the comfort of your own home. The Zoom link will be provided prior to the course start date. Course begins on June 1st and ends on July 19th. Weekly Zoom sessions meet on Thursdays from June 4th through July 16th.

    The online course materials will be available from June 1st through July 19th. Log-in instructions will be sent to you before the class begins.
