This mandatory 54-hour training course is required for those wishing to become licensed as a Washington State Adult Family Home owner. Additional AFH Administrator training requirements include the ability to pass an English and reading exam. All training material is provided in class.
This is a non-credit class, which means that you do not need to be a Green River College student in order to enroll. You will receive a certificate after successful completion of the course. This certificate for the Adult Family Home Administrator Training currently does not expire.
English Proficiency: The Washington DSHS requires that all students must provide proof of English proficiency through an English proficiency exam, in order to pass this course. This is due no later than the end of the first day of class.
Detailed instructions on this requirement will be sent to registered students shortly after they enroll, and prior to the first day of class, but if you would like to see the requirements now, please request them from ce@greenriver.edu. This requirement can ONLY be fulfilled by taking the English proficiency exam at GRC and scoring 72 or higher.
Please note, if you fail to meet the English proficiency requirement by the end of the first day of class, you will not be eligible to receive a refund. You will be switched to the next available Training class.
Attendance Requirement: Students must attend 85% of classes in order to receive the certificate. This means that students cannot miss more than eight hours (one class day) of the course in order for their certificate to be issued.
Technology: Computer proficiency is required for this course. There will be an hour-long orientation class dedicated to showing students how to use Zoom and navigate Canvas. All students are required to take this class prior to the first day of the Adult Family Home Training class.
A cell phone will not be adequate to complete this course. If you do not have a computer/laptop but would like to take this course, please contact our department at ce@greenriver.edu to arrange a reservation for using one of our computer labs.
Registration for this class will close a week prior to the start date to allow us to process all required documentation.
