Earning your CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ certification demonstrates your foundational knowledge of desktop, laptop and mobile systems, servers, software installation, and security. If you’re new to the world of IT, completing your IT Fundamentals+ certification ensures you have foundational IT knowledge. Plus it paves the way to more advanced certifications like CompTIA A+.

Brought to you in partnership with the Community Colleges of Spokane, a CompTIA Authorized Academy, earning your IT Fundamentals+ certification can help you feel more comfortable for a position as a sales associate, sales engineer, account manager, business development manager, product or marketing specialist or entry level customer support. 

 

After completing this course, you will know how to:

  • Prepare a study plan for the CompTIA Fundamentals+ exam.
  • Explain fundamental computing concepts, identify common roles and form factors of computers, and use a consistent troubleshooting methodology.
  • Identify popular operating systems and their features, and work proficiently within Windows.
  • Identify and use computer hardware, including internal components and storage devices.
  • Expand computer capabilities by use of internal and external expansion ports and peripherals
  • Manage files, folders, and special locations on hard drives and other storage devices.
  • Use administration tools to change system settings, manage accounts and interface personalization, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Recognize the primary security threats facing computers and the security controls that can be used to mitigate them.
  • Set up workstations and manage them effectively through updates and backups, and minimize environmental and safety risks.
  • Explain networking concepts and technologies, and configure a small office/home office router
  • Configure network connections on workstations, share resources, and troubleshoot connection issues.
  • Categorize, install, and use software applications.
  • Identify the core technologies of web browsers and cloud applications, and access the web effectively.
  • Contrast the hardware and software features of mobile devices with their desktop counterparts, and configure a mobile device.

You will receive an exam voucher (FC0-U51) at the end of the class so that you may take the exam at a later date.
