Basics of Garment Construction   

Create your own clothing and costumes! Using commercial patterns as the basis of your creations you will learn how to: 

1. Take accurate measurements

2. Safely cut fabric 

3. Do basic alterations 

Beginner and novice costume makers will benefit from learning how to read garment pattern instructions, as well as choosing the right materials for their creations.

    • 60-inch measuring tape, thread, seam ripper, fabric scissors, pins or sewing clips and making tools
    • Store bought pattern that uses non stretch fabric for beginners with no zippers
    • Dritz French Curve Styling ruler
    • Pin cushion for wrist or magnetic pin cushion
    • Pattern weights
    • Iron
