Intro to Engineering, Mechatronics & AI: Grades 6-8

Explore the fields of engineering, mechanical engineering/electronics, and artificial intelligence in this hands-on class with Heartland Community College and Illinois State University experts leading the way! Spend the morning building a functioning lie detector using a microcontroller and aluminum foil as you explore circuit design and programming to understand human behavior. In the afternoon, create a smart backpack with a microcontroller and sensors to detect and send alerts of intruders approaching from 5 feet behind you. Leave class with your new creations and a list of other projects you can tackle at home. Supplies and lunch are included.
