This program is designed to provide students the knowledge and skills required to perform the administrative functions of an entry level medical assistant in a variety of healthcare settings such as, medical offices, clinics and ambulatory care facilities. Students will learn how to manage patient scheduling, maintain patient records, perform billing and coding duties, assist physicians with examinations and prepare patients for laboratory and diagnostic imaging procedures. Topics will also include basic medical terminology, comprehension of filing systems, financial procedures, compliance (HIPPA and OSHA guidelines), general office policies and procedures and twenty (20) instructional hours on the essentials of basic, technical and business writing skills required in the workplace. Textbooks, NHA exam fee, and study guide are included in the tuition.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam administered by the National Health Career Association (NHA).
